Cost Accountant in the Finance Department. This position reports to the Senior Finance Manager.

Role/Purpose:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, reporting, correcting and communicating inventory cost variances throughout the manufacturing process. This position will be responsible for identifying root causes of the variances to determine changes in Operations processes that may be necessary to prevent such from happening. Additionally, this position will be responsible for ensuring successful transition of Hi-Speed unit's cost accounting to Tampa, which may require occasional travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accurate reporting of inventory and cost of goods sold in accordance with U.S. GAAP

Play prominent role in physical inventory counts in conjunction with Operations including but not limited to posting inventory reconciliations and preparing inventory sign off packages,

Assist with implementation and monitoring of inventory cycle counting and lead service technicians' cycle counts including resolving variances with Service department

Support and maintenance of product and G/L codes in ERP systems including validation of BOM to support manufacturing personnel

Perform root-cause analysis of job variances and work with Operations to resolve and prevent such from happening in the future

Engage and lead Operations to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the plant including but not limited to bringing visibility of aging /obsolete inventory, variances root-causes resolution,

Closing and reporting duties including but not limited to inventory reserves calculations and analysis, warranty costs analysis, gathering and reporting financial Key Performance Indicators, accumulation and application of overhead costs, journal entries, inventory evaluation, inventory roll-forward, aging/obsolesenece of inventory analysis, and reconciliation of transactional data to G/L

Maintain Fixed Assets and FA roll forwards including monthly closing tasks, ensuring proper processes are followed for capital acquisitions

Assist in budgeting process

Coordinate with the Corporate including but not limited to Group Finance and Tax Compliance departments

File various tax filings related to tangible assets

Supports adherence to SOX controls and support the internal and external audits

Lead transitioning of Hi-Speed unit's cost accounting to Tampa

Other duties or tasks as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent computer skills: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Hyperion, ERP System (SAP preferred)

Strong knowledge of accounting compliance to U.S. GAAP in Manufacturing Industry, specifically Cost Accounting and Evaluation of Inventory

Strong knowledge of SOX requirements

Excellent organizational skills

Excellent analytical ability

Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization

Must be detail oriented and accurate with data and reporting

Minimum Education / Experience Required:

BS/BA in Accounting (CPA and/or MBA preferred)

Minimum of three years of experience in accounting

Must demonostrate working knowledge of cost accounting, BOM, and evaluation of inventory

SAP / BI experience preferred
