JOB SUMMARY: Provide purchasing function for maintenance related activities. Track inventories for the maintenance department and plant. Order plant supplies (PPE Equipment, clothing and boots for cooler operators, maintenance needs and all plant supplies). Create Purchase Order and order to be delivered in a timely manner. Maintain optimum inventory levels and control of the same for all inventories with least cost to the company.

  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Ability to work in a safe and sanitary manner.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug test and background check.

  • Must have proof of U.S. Citizenship or have a valid work visa.

  • High school diploma/GED.

  • Ability to read and write and follow instructions.

  • Proficiency in math and problem solving.

  • Three years purchasing experience preferably in Dairy.


  • Create Purchase Order and order items in a timely manner with correct pricing.

  • Request order acknowledgements from vendors with correct quantities and pricing for each delivery when ordered.

  • Provide work order input and completion tracking.

  • Track maintenance spending and utility spending on a weekly and monthly basis.

  • Order plant supplies, (paper products, soap, janitorial and cleaning supplies.)

  • Communicate with Superintendent, Manager and Supervisors regarding plant inventory control and maintenance needs.

  • Order PPE clothing and equipment, (safety glasses, hair nets, cooler suits, gloves, etc.)

  • Maintain maintenance employee records for safety training and required departmental testing.

  • Maintain records related to Quality Assurance for the Maintenance department.

  • Investigate and communicate with vendors and suppliers for best service, cost, quality and value.

  • Perform other duties assigned by manager or superintendent.

  • Inventory parts on a weekly and monthly basis.

  • Kit PM parts prior to PM activity.

  • Maintain, schedule, issue, follow-up and write preventive maintenance work orders.

  • Generate weekly and monthly reports for PM s.

  • Compare vendor and additional supplies to ensure best price for all maintenance/plant purchases.

  • Adapts to changes in the work environment. Able to deal with frequent changes, delays and unexpected events.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.


  • Environment involved is mostly inside, could be some outside, heat/cold, wet/humid.
